Gamification of Culture: A Strategy for Cultural Preservation and Local Sustainable Development

In the dual context of cultural economy and creative economy, culture is considered a unique source competitiveness, making preservation vital issue for peripheral areas. this paper, it argued that gamification valuable strategy developing cross-cultural designs. The advantages games in promotion areas with limited institutional resources are further articulated. To illustrate this, set design principles was proposed distinctive boat-based (Tanka) southern China taken as an example. A case study conducted based on document analysis history Tanka field research settlements Humen New Bay area, showing development process thus demonstrating possibility promoting sustainable through gamification. After testing game, some adjustments were suggested. However, participants generally agreed they learned customs gameplay, indicating effectiveness game preservation. This contributes to both theory practice by providing theoretical background early practice.
